These gems shimmer and glow from every direction with deep blue and azure blue with hints of green

Teardrop gems are 25 x 10 x 5.5mm, hand cut in India with facets on one side and a flat back

The silver 'lily pads' were originally made from a disc and heat treated to melt the surface and create an 'orange peel' look -then cast using the lost wax casting method

The exact origins of lost wax casting are shrouded in mystery and it is possible that the technique was developed independently in different regions, but archaeological records suggest that the method was first used at some point in the fourth millennium BC
