These lovely Turquoise gems are from the Kingman Mine in Arizona, which has an excellent true blue colour with virtually no blemishes
The Kingman Turquoise Mine is known for its high-quality, blue-coloured turquoise. The mine has a long history, with Native Americans mining the area for centuries, the modern production of turquoise at the mine dates back to the late 1880s
The original for this earring, was made from a disc and heat treated to melt the surface and create an 'orange peel' look -then cast using the lost wax casting method
The exact origins of lost wax casting are shrouded in mystery and it is possible that the technique was developed independently in different regions, but archaeological records suggest that the method was first used at some point in the fourth millennium BC
The Indus Valley civilization, produced some of the earliest known examples
