In Indian culture, the paisley pattern, is a traditional motif with deep historical and cultural significance.
Originating in India, possibly near Kashmir, it is associated with life, fertility, and has roots in Zoroastrian symbolism of the cypress tree and floral spray. The pattern, characterized by its curved, teardrop shape, has been a popular design element on Indian textiles, particularly in Kashmir shawls for centuries - my love of this Paisley design began when I was young but became a real passion when I visited India in 1989
